Phnom Penh, July 24, 2025 — Prime Minister Hun Manet has called on the Cambodian public to remain calm and uphold national dignity amid ongoing clashes between Cambodian and Thai forces along the border.
In a public statement on Thursday, the Prime Minister appealed to all Cambodian citizens to avoid any form of discrimination or hostility that could affect the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, Thai businesses operating in Cambodia, or Thai nationals residing in the country.
“Although border fighting is ongoing between Cambodian and Thai troops, I urge all Cambodians to maintain their morality and dignity,” Hun Manet said. “Please refrain from actions that could harm the Royal Thai Embassy, Thai companies, or Thai citizens living and working in Cambodia.”
Addressing Cambodians currently residing in Thailand, the Prime Minister extended a message of support, especially to those who may be facing difficulties or discrimination due to the current tensions.
“To our citizens who are living, working, or studying in Thailand and may be experiencing pressure or discrimination, if you wish to return to Cambodia, please know that your country welcomes you,” he said.
He encouraged those in need of assistance to contact either the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Bangkok or the Cambodian Consulate-General in Sa Kaeo Province for support.
The statement comes as both nations face mounting tensions following military confrontations in border areas, prompting concerns for the safety and well-being of civilians on both sides.
